When we get overwhelmed it can be hard to maintain our momentum. One of the easiest ways to do this is by creating goals that are set up for success. Using these 5 tips can often be helpful: is it SMART?
Be as specific as possible "clean my room" can be pretty open ended ... try to narrow it down "organize my desk" or put away laundry" "make my bed"
Is it measurable: how will you know when you have started? Reached the middle? Finished?
Is it achievable: can you accomplish this? Within the time constraints or where you find yourself today? You may want to read a book a week in 2021 but maybe you need to start with picking what book to read. Thats ok. starting is still success.
Is it realistic: dream big by all means, but also manage your expectations. having dreams that are outside the scope of your personal reality can often leave us feeling disappointed or let down and that impacts our self esteem and sense of self worth.
Whats the timing: do you need to check something off today? are you hoping to accomplish this in a week? This can be super helpful in managing the realistic aspect. You may want to learn to snowboard in a weekend (Ok maybe thats me) but it very likely will take more than one weekend of eating snow.
Using these 5 tips can be extremely beneficial in improving your goals in a way that directly boosts your self esteem and sense of self worth. When you start to experience small success, or small wins regularly you start to recognize your own potential.
Try it out and let us know how it goes!
